We are delighted that the internal part of our re-development is complete. We now have the external bits to complete, now that we know the full financial position. We will soon be embarking on the re-roofing of the west face (nearest to the shops) and renewing the coping stones on the gable ends of the Chapel.
It has been a long hard struggle to achieve the finished scheme, but after 7 years in the planning, and several disappointments along the way the work has finally been completed. Basil Wyatt our contractors have done a magnificent job and we are delighted and cannot thank them enough. We hope that you all approve of the changes and improvements that have been made and that the building is now fit-for-purpose for the foreseeable future. We have achieved wheelchair access throughout the building, together with a state of the art kitchen, which has been lacking for some time. All modern building requirements have now been met and we are anxious to share our building with anyone who wishes to use it or just come to see it, whether it is for a service or to use as a time of quiet and reflection. We want this building to be a true community resource and that everyone is welcome within.
Our progress with the scheme was eased by the kindness and generosity of our Anglican friends who let us use Christ Church for the duration of the work. This has been an enormous bonus, as we don't know what we would have e don without their kind offer.
We trust that you will bear with us in the final stages of the work, which will ensure that we are safe and dry.
