Faringdon United Church was founded in 1970 by the coming together of the Congregational and Methodist Churches in Faringdon. In 1972 the Congregational Church and the Presbyterian Church of England united to form the United Reformed Church.
Faringdon United Church is now a part of both the Methodist Church (Witney & Faringdon Circuit) and the United Reformed Church (Wessex Synod).
Faringdon United Church is a warm welcoming group of worshippers, combining the 2 streams that form the United Church (Methodism and United Reformed Church).
The style is relaxed and welcomes people of any denomination to join us and feel at ease. After worship, we have a time to get to know each other over a cup of coffee (and occasionally biscuits).
Music is a very important part of our worship and we allow extra time to enjoy a period of worship song singing before the main service each Sunday. We have a worship band and singers to lead this and also have the more traditional organ to lead in more familiar hymns.
We are blessed with a large selection of facilities. Besides the worship area and vestry, we have a large hall and a small hall, served by kitchen facilities. We also have modern toilet facilities.
The facilities are also used to the local communities benefit, hosting such diverse things as Brownies, Toddler Group, Pilates, Bridge Club, Coffee Mornings, children's parties and many more things.
The facilities are available to be booked by calling 07949 936677.
We very much regard this as a community facility and reflect this in the rates that we charge. For any further information, please contact the bookings number.
Sunday services start at 10:20, other services are posted locally. There are no regular evening services but we join with Churches Together in Faringdon for a monthly evening service.
Children's activities are available on Sunday mornings.
